What are 2 basic methods to correct subluxations?
A. The one we all learned in school: Adjust with a thrust. Any properly vectored rapid thrust: osseous, drop, spring-loaded, toggle, etc. produces a GTO inhibitory response to the hypertonic muscle and stimulates the inhibited muscle via the muscle spindle, both of which cause the subluxation to reset to normal1, 2 .
B. The one we did not learn in school:
Place the subluxation in such a position of comfort, ease and lack of stress, that it releases itself by its own natural means.
Lawrence Jones, DO found that if hard and tender points within subluxation complexes were put into slack to the point that the tissues softened and ceased to be significantly tender they would release themselves in about 90 seconds and restore to normal3.
